On-Camera Intensive
A special 6-week on-camera technique workshop - $295
May 31st class full. Next session TBD.
WHO: Instructors Mark Pellegrino and Tracy Aziz teach this workshop, which is open to actors of all levels (with interview).
WHY: Acting for the camera can present an enormous set of problems for the actor. Any or all of them can work to undermine one’s humanity, concentration and relaxation. This class has been developed with one purpose in mind: you will be ready to walk on to a set confident, prepared to surmount any technical challenges presented to you and bring the best of your work through the lens.
WHAT: This workshop teaches you how to:- Work comfortably on a set in front of a camera, under both ideal and not so ideal circumstances
- Work off of a "moving camera"
- Understand and work within the confines of a narrow depth of field
- Maintain your craft with seemingly contradictory or technical direction
- Comprehend on set vocabulary
- Take advantage of extensive coverage
- Master the Close-Up
- Understand continuity and other technical aspects not dealt with on stage
- Drop distracting tics or tension without becoming self-conscious
- Work like a true professional under the pressures of a set
- Bring your technique to bear against the unique difficulties presented by cameras, crew, directors and technology
HOW: Mark Pellegrino and Tracy Aziz are uniquely qualified to mentor you toward true professionalism. Both have decades of teaching experience to keep you honest and in the moment. Additionally, they have decades of professional on-set experience to keep you focused on what is practical and ensure that you are able to excel at what they pay you for. You will work intensely on "set," on-camera, every class and in outside rehearsal, and you will be mentored toward a knowledgeable, capable and confident on set demeanor.
